Natalie Hershlag (nacida el 9 de junio de 1981 en Jerusalén, Israel), conocida artísticamente como Natalie Portman, es una actriz y modelo israelí-estadounidense. Debutó en el cine en la película francesa Léon (1994), donde encarnó el papel de una huérfana que es salvada por un asesino a sueldo. En la década de 1990 interpretó varios papeles protagonistas, en filmes como Beautiful Girls y Anywhere but Here, antes de que fuese seleccionada para dar vida al personaje de Padmé Amidala en Star Wars. En 1999, mientras trabajaba en la filmación de Star Wars, ingresó a la Universidad de Harvard en la carrera de Psicología y obtuvo su licenciatura en 2003.1

En 2001 participó en la obra de teatro La gaviota del escritor ruso Antón Chéjov,2 la cual se estrenó en el Public Theater de Nueva York.3 En 2005, por su actuación en el drama Closer fue acreedora de un Globo de Oro a la mejor actriz de reparto y fue nominada a un premio Óscar en la misma categoría. Posteriormente interpretó el papel principal en las películas históricas Los fantasmas de Goya (2006) y The Other Boleyn Girl (2008). En mayo de 2008 se convirtió en el miembro más joven del jurado de la 61ª edición del Festival de Cannes.4 Ese mismo año debutó como directora en el cortometraje Eve, el cual fue estrenado en la 65ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Venecia.5

En 2011 por su interpretación protagónica en Black Swan fue ganadora de un premio Óscar a la mejor actriz, un Globo de Oro a la mejor actriz en un drama, un Premio del Sindicato de Actores a la mejor actriz protagonista y un premio BAFTA a la mejor actriz.
